Two cops arrested over TUT student’s death

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has appreciated the arrest of two police officers in connection with the murder of Katlego Monareng.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has confirmed a captain and a constable were arrested earlier on Monday.

Monareng was shot dead during the Student Representative Council (SRC) elections at the Soshanguve North campus in August.

“The Tshwane University of Technology welcomes the progress made in the Ipid investigation and now the law has to take its course” said Willa de Ruyter, TUT spokesperson.

The two officers will appear at the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court on October 23.
